Best Selling Author Brian Freeman

Will visit the library at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 10th. The library currently has a display of all his books ready for patrons to check one out. Brian Freeman is an international bestselling author of psychological suspense novels. His books have been sold in 46 countries and 20 languages and have appeared as Main Selections in the Literary Guild and the Book of the Month Club. His fifth novel THE BURYING PLACE was a finalist for Best Novel of the Year in the International Thriller Writer Awards.

Tai Chi Returns in September

This 6 week course will be held Sept. 6 to Oct. 11 from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm at the Carnegie Public Library. Come and learn simple movements, and energy levels and more. Focus training, breathing and Chi Kung exercises will help you maintain and improve your good health and balanced living. Greg Vick is a certified instructor and currently teaches at the Changing Dragon Tai Chi School in Auburn, IN. Experiance authentic and traditional Tai Chi, wear loose fitting clothes and gym shoes. The cost is $50.00 and deadline to register is Aug. 29.

ArtPrize Motorcoach Saturday Oct. 1

ArtPrize is a radically open public art competition and opened to any artist from around the world. Enjoy 1,582 artists from 36 countries and 43 states will show their work in 164 venues within three-square miles of downtown Grand Rapids and participate in the unprecedented competition that awarded nearly $500,000 to the prize winners. Art will be all around you - sculptures on sidewalks, multiple-story murals on the side of buildings, and smaller pieces peeking out from windows wherever you go. Venues range from city parks to rooftops to museums to restaurants to the Grand River, which runs through downtown Grand Rapids. Art Prize has no formal jury, curator or judge, and asks the public to vote and decide the winners using mobile devices and the internet. “ArtPrize has become world-renowned in its ability to challenge conventional thinking toward public art in surprising & poetic ways.” We’ll stop on the way home for a quick bite to eat on your own. New Floor Easels for the Library

The library would like to thank Don Wunrow, Dale Hart and Len Roselle and other members of the N.E.I. Woodworkers club for giving the library 4 floor wooden easels made by the members. They are so sturdy and versatile, they will be a nice addition to our exhibits and displays we offer at the library. This is in addition to the 16 table easels that were donated by members. We appreciate you all so much!
